The President said that “Hunter was singled out only because he is my son.” Hunter Biden was convicted of three firearm charges in June and also pleaded guilty to failing to pay $1.4 million in federal taxes in September. He was due to be sentenced in December in separate hearings. Hunter Biden was found guilty of lying and possessing a weapon illegally. He said on a form that he was not using drugs when buying a gun in Delaware October 2018. He pleaded guilty to tax offenses in California in September. He failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019. Joe Biden is not the first president to pardon a family member. Bill Clinton pardoned his brother Roger for a cocaine offence. Trump pardoned his son-in-law Jared Kushner’s father.
