Movement is a great way to discharge energy or express playful excitement, but it can also indicate discomfort or pain. While Drifter does roll and play like this often, there are small indicators that this is something more. Noticing the amount of times he tried to rub his muzzle on the ground and his own legs, noticing that he never actually rolled, noticing tiny stress indicators like the tail swish and tense face, plus the fact that he recently had teeth pulled, all tell us he’s likely uncomfortable as his mouth heals. Ever have that weird sensation as a wound heals? A few moments later his pal Jackie joined him and her presence was enough distraction to help him chill out.
