the perceived downsides to "wasting credits/time" are nothing compared to getting a degree in something you don't like

Switch majors still if you really want it. I switch from mechanical engineering to Comp Info Systems in year 3 and lost half my classes but was happier with my new major

Ok :
even if you hate it keep going, if your already deep into the education i would keep following it and find a job in a hospital tailored to your qualifications and after a while ask their help

this all depends on what your current major is and what you want to switch to. you need to assess what transferable skills you are currently gaining and if they will help you in the new field you want

Depends on your situation. If you NEED money and if your major guarantees a decent salary, maybe just finish. If you can wait it out and your new major guarantees more money/a better life, switch now. If they overlap, consider doing a masters in the more passionate major. Another thing to consider is that if you do go back to school for another BS, you may no longer eligible for a lot of financial aid and scholarships and low interest loans. I did a mechE masters and realized I love compSci, and because of my salary I’m able to transition and get CS degrees if I choose
