I don't even agree with "sharing with the class" for birthday cake or snacks. I never understood why the kid with the birthday has to buy/provide for everyone. That's backwards.

I think IF invitations are distributed at school, yes. Invite everyone in the class or that’s rude. But one can privately invite whoever they want otherwise. Teacher was out of line.

Did they hand out the invitations in class? My child's teacher asked at the beginning of the school year that if not all kids in the classroom aren't invited, to hand out invitations privately.

As a teacher, I would agree that the teacher definitely overstepped. It’s different if he invited everyone except 1 student…but he only invited 2 out of 32….which is totally fine.
