Well done to everyone who’s competing at the Hyrox this weekend. Here’s a few tips on how to recover after a competition 🧠 Main focuses for this week should include: - Staying hydrated with water & electrolytes to ensure your body is functioning at its best. - Having a healthy high protein diet to give your body the nutrients to recover. - Sleeping 7-9 hours every night. Giving your body time to recover. - Hot and cold therapy. This is good for promoting blood flow and reducing inflammation. The 1-3 days after the event: Take it easy. No intense training sessions. Zone 2 work on a bike and a bit of mobility will do. If you’re up for it, an easy weight session is fine! The 4-7 days after the event: Start to ease yourself back into training. Focusing on good form and full range of motion at 60-80% of the weight you normally use in your strength sessions will be more beneficial. In regards to cardio, keep it non weight bearing (ski, row, bike or swim are good options). Do this for another 3-4 days. After a week or so post event: You should be feeling yourself.
