@drbeckyatgoodinside: Kids crave sturdy leadership: A parent who can recognize their emotions AND not get swept up in them. Our sturdiness is what makes them feel safe, what allows them to calm down, what helps them develop emotion regulation and resilience. In fact, I think we ALL crave sturdy leadership. It’s why I keep coming back to this pilot metaphor. I know have that sturdy pilot inside of you. One more thing: the more of us that come together, the more support we will have in changing the way we respond to kids (and to ourselves). Tag a friend, a family member, a partner here. This Good Inside movement isn’t “mine” - it’s ours, and I would truly love your help in making it even stronger.

In Animorphs, Jake’s mom tells him it’s much easier to be an adult bc nothing is new anymore - she’s got the experience to handle everything, which kids don’t have. I think about that scene a lot.

Aww my Dad was a commercial airline pilot for 30+ years. He always said “it’s not what I do. It’s what I know how to do under pressure” 🥰

We need to teach them all the things and I think parents forget this. As a teacher- I am trying to make up for it- but it’s not enough. Model, teach and nourish your child’s curiosity. They need you.
