1. Medicine isn’t as glamorous as people make it out to be. It can be long hours, mentally and physically draining. 2. Some days, I come home from work and don’t want to socialise or talk to anyone because work or the long commute has absolutely drained me. 3. General Practice can be a very lonely and isolating speciality. It is really important to have a good support circle and network. 4. There is a lot of uncertainty around healthcare jobs at the moment, even for highly trained and specialised doctors. This makes me anxious as a young doctor still finding my way. 5. I’m guilty of prioritising my career aspirations over my personal life, health/well-being, and family life. 6. I give patients health advice I don’t follow because I think, “I’m too busy to eat lunch today” or “I don’t have time to work out.” 7. I’ve learnt more about being a Doctor in my first year of GP training, than I did the entirety of medical school, and two years locuming when I first qualified. 8. Communicating well, building trust, and maintaining strong relationships with your patients is just as important as fixing their health problems—something medical school didn’t prepare me for. 9. I still get nervous when patients ask, “You’re young; how long have you been doing this?” 10. I’ve reassured nervous patients about a procedure, when deep down, I am just as nervous. #medicine #medicalstudent #medicalschool #premed #premedical #premedicine #pemedicalips #StudyTips #studentlife #explorepage #reelsindia #img #internationalmedicalgraduate
