Looking back at this footage while editing & I do not envy us 😂 Travelling with kids is SO hard. Like…I think I maybe underestimated just how hard it would be?? I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but that was something else. Both kids were well behaved, so it wasn’t that. It was the anxiety & pressure we both felt about keeping them happy and entertained so we didn’t bother anyone around us on the flight. I tried so hard to not care but when you have all on eyes you the minute your child makes the slighest noise, you can’t not care! I was almost in tears at one point when Malakai was upset. He was soo tired but was struggling to fall asleep so he screamed for a couple of minutes and those minutes felt like YEARS. Also, trying to keep an (almost) 2yr old contained to a seat and entertained is near impossible. It was the longest 6hrs of our lives, both Jesse and I were so stressed and absoutely exhausted from being constantly “on” the whole flight and doing whatever it took to keep them quiet. On the way over to Bali we both had a kid on our lap each and that was the worst. We didn’t need a booked seat for Oakley as he is under 2, but honeslty, I would rather pay for him than not because it made everything really really difficult. We were lucky enough on the way home to have a full row to ourselves which made things a lot easier and more manageable with the extra space. The struggle on the way home was the late flight and kids not sleeping…I couldn’t believe Oakley wouldn’t lay across the seats and sleep! At least we know for next time to book day time flights only because our toddler will not sleep, even if it’s past his bedtime and he is delerious 😮‍💨🥲 Our time actually in Bali was incredible and we had the best holiday, we loved every second. But flying with littles ain’t it and is honestly super offputting hahaha! Hats off to @Katie & Harry for all the long hauls they’ve done.
