@diabeticdadman: Enjoy your starches, even as a diabetic. Starches are some of my favorite food types and for a long time I gave them up like doctors tell you too. But with this hack I’ve been able to enjoy some of my favorite foods again. If you take a starch like potatoes or rice, cook it, refrigerate it, and then reheat it you can cut the amount of carbs in your meal down. But how does this happen? Cooking your starches changes your food on a molecular level, and so does cooling it down. When you cool you food, you increase your foods resistant starches. Resistant starches are a complex carbohydrate, which the body takes longer to digest and break down. This feeds your gut bacteria, makes you feel fuller longer, and causes your body to take in fewer calories and carbs. For every 100 g that are 5 fewer grams of of digestible carbohydrates compared to the same portion of fresh cooked rice. That may not seem like a lot, but to a diabetic we know every carb counts. So enjoy that serving or white rice, or roasted potatoes, but next time think about using this refrigeration method to help your blood sugar out. #diabetes #lowcarb #insulinresistance #healthytips #type2diabetes

Have you tested your blood sugar to see the difference? If you have, can you give us approximation of how different it was after it was chilled versus non-an eaten right after cooking

It increases the resistance of the starch, making it harder to break down. So we breakdown about 50% less of.
