Sick of women having to normalise this pain. A departure from my usual content but in the interest of always speaking candidly about whatever I’m going through in life ok here and normalising these topics, let’s speak about this. I’ve been up since 6am trying not to vom. I’ve got back pain, a headache and no matter whether I’m curled up or laying down, nothing is helping and I’m just clawing at my tummy at this point. Tired of women’s health issues being underfunded, dismissed and not being taken seriously. There’s a severe lack of research surrounding women’s health, particularly when they’re conditions that predominantly affect women, resulting in so many people having to normalise this ongoing level of discomfort every single month. For those new to my page, I posted a video last month speaking candidly about my issues about getting my cooper IUD removed. It’s been a frustrating process over 2.5 years with numerous tests, doctor’s appointments and scans being done only to be told everything seems fine with my health and the pain felt is a common symptom associated with the copper coil. Still on the waiting list for an ultrasound and specialist to look into it 5 weeks to see whether it’s been dislodged, thus causing extra pain and it needing to be removed with a camera. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so grateful for the NHS and the extraordinary work the team does to make public health accessible — but undeniably, it’s underfunded and overworked. If you have advice on what could help alleviate this, please do leave a comment below to help others going through this too. Looking into getting a TENS machine asap. #womenshealth #womenshealthmatters #periodpain #coppercoil #iud #menstruationmatters #menstrualcycle #femalehealth #women #health #periodproblems #periodpositive #perioddrama #periodcramps #feminism #periodpower #periodtalk #periodpoverty
