My worst was a three year old dying with a brain tumor. Couldn't give her enough pain meds. nothing would control the pain 😥

How do you feel about MAID? In Canada it’s legal everywhere.

I'm on hospice and on what I feel is a lot of pain meds. I still have pain but I cant imagine how much pain I would be in if I didn't take the pain meds I do that keeps the pain bearable.

Hospice nurse here…unfortunately, you can’t help those who don’t want your help!

I lost my brother to brain cancer 5 days ago, I am thankful that he was kept comfortable and his last breaths were pain free 😢

she might have thought she should go through that kind of thing due to the past she's the only one that knows

This is interesting… if I were ever terminally ill, I’d probably be that lady. Curious example… I had a natural home birth. I didn’t consider requesting an epidural in the height of pain. 1/2

Reminds me of The Mother God person and slowly watching her whither away and suffer was so sad

I think suffering is subjective though. Yes we can see that someone is in pain and their symptoms aren’t being managed, if we were in their shoes that we would be “suffering” 1/2

I could never imagine not listening to a healthcare worker especially with a hospice patient. It makes no sense.

Some people, especially with PTSD may perceive taking medications as a loss of their autonomy, and that would be worse suffering to them than the physical pain itself.

when in labor with my twins my GYN nurses asked me if I wanted and epi and I said HELL YES! They sighed with relief. They said do you hear that? (A woman down the hall screaaaaaaming) ⬇️

I work in vet med, had a pt with CHF & collapsing trachea. The owner stopped all meds & instead gave Manuka honey bc she's heard it helped with coughs. It was heartbreaking.

This is my dad, but with ALS. I know there isn’t a cure, but he refuses any help and it’s horrible to watch.

Ultimately suffering was more important for her, her choice, but can imagine how difficult it must have been to witness :(

Damn. To be so closed minded at the most vulnerable time in your life. What a disability that is.

That's absorbing. I grapple with thus myself. Not the herbal aspects of it, or "new age stuff". As a Lupus patient, I simply do not know if I would accept end of life care meds. So much medications-
