I just got pocket wifi for 3 month for $200. That’s like $2 a day and highly worth it. Has been all three times I’ve gone. Pick up/drop off at the airport couldn’t be easier.

I buy my data sim at 7-11 for about $60USD, I get unlimited data all month and I use Google voice for my calling back home.

I used the pocket wifi for 3 of us as it worked out cheaper. Also eSIMs can mess up your phone settings which is why I didn’t risk it

I bought a sim a bic camera house cost about $30 for 40gb and was easy to do. Also a lot of the times the resturants gave me an English menu and it was the same price as the Japanese menu

The eSIMs fuck up the group chats on iPhone. I used a pocket wifi for 2 weeks and it was about $4 a day

As a regular visitor to Japan, only tip 5 is valid. They don’t jack up English menu prices, compare many times never have it happening, eSIM can be cheap as long as ppl do their research, yakiniku is not quality meat to begin with, quality Kobe or Wagyu beaf would be served as steak sometimes with private chef . 🥩
