Do not do it on a collar. If you're in an accident, their neck can break. If anything do a harness, but please please please get a good, solid, sturdy crate meant for car travel

another thing!! use a seat belt that attaches to the headrest, my dogs always step on the seatbelts and detach them. we also use a strong heavy duty harness attached to the seatbelt
