Here’s one issue I have. What if one child is doing fine, but the other is having trouble. It would be unfair to leave for the first child.

Have people met 2 year olds? Maybe I’m not giving them enough credit but they don’t understand ultimatums.

When I speak like this as opposed to using edge in my voice, my 2 year old thinks I’m playing and continues the behavior.

What if they ask for another chance? Would you hold the boundary but give a time limit? Like “we can try again after lunch”.

I eliminated the option of what he is trying to do! i.e. He gets out of bed and tries to come out of his room so i say” either I can tuck you in or you can tuck yourself in” and it works wonders.

What would you do with an older kid (4yo). For us we say “sand stays..” and then if it continues I give one more warning and follow with or we have to go. Is that a threat at that point?

What if the toddler then throws a full on tantrum screaming and crying? Do you just pick him up and carry him like a kidnapper to the car? this is a regular reaction and situation 😅🫠)

I've always felt that threats don't work. especially because if they fail I often don't want to follow through because I actually am not sure if the consequences were clear to them.

My 2.5 year old takes a long time to go to sleep at night. It’s been that way forever, but now that she has transitioned to a toddler bed, she now gets up constantly until she falls asleep…

Okay but then do you literally drag him out kicking and screaming then?
