This is not correct. GERD does happen from low stomach acid. Reference Dr. Jonathan Wright WHY STOMACH ACID IS GOOD FOR YOU. With insufficient acid you can have acid reflux…seen that in many patients.

The truth is that a chronic low level of acid will inflame and burn the esophageal flap but is at the acidic level of vinegar and it will not digest food which ends up in reflux.
