Shea butter is also known as "Okwuma" in Igbo and "Kadanya" in Hausa, "nkuto" in Twi, "karité" in Wollof. You may know shea butter as a gift from West Africa(there's also Nilotica Shea Butter from East Africa) which is great for the skin and hair, which it is, but shea butter is used for a whole lot more. It is used for cooking(yes, but make sure it is 100% organic) and for spiritual purposes across Africa in different spiritual traditions. Shea butter can be used to feed your Ori. Shea butter is also used as an offering to the Orisha and as part of ebo - when we do Ifa divination and Ifa prescribes shea butter(Oori in Yoruba). Shea butter like all offerings has esoteric meanings, some of which are prosperity, good harvest and smoothness in handling daily business. When we sacrifice a hen to Osun, shea butter and palm oil are part of the ritual. Shea butter is also famously offered to Obatala and Aje Olokun amongst others. Shea butter is, indeed, another sacred gift from the motherland. Shea butter is used to clear blockages, for protection and to get rid of evil dreams, attract wealth, neutralize negative energy, for love attraction and business breakthrough.
