A DAY WITH WOLF DOGS: This looks like a pretty easy and peaceful car trip. You think?? NO NO NO. You’re just seeing the end result when neither of us have any fight left in us. ROUGH MORNING. On this day, i have an appointment to have 3 females fixed. Maybe three at a time was a little ambitious on my part, but I do have a helper and two vehicles. As instructed, i medicate them all an hour prior to putting them in the car. Car rides suck. No other way to say it. They might poop, they might throw up. Ive had a big boy bust a window out and escape while i was driving. He sustained zero injuries. Window wasnt so lucky. To 3 hours to catch him. Anyhow, medication didnt work. Put two females together in the back of truck with a camper shell of course. Had crates set up. They werent going for that so we removed those. I sat in the truck holding leashes. Driver got behind the wheel, opened back slide window, took leashes so i could get out and keep them from jumping out. He was on his way. I got the 3rd female, about to take her to other vehicle, when he pulls back up and screams he needs help. I put 3rd fenale in Garage for a moment, get outside, and he says, camper shell latch was opened and one jumped out. He was at a stop by the house. I put other female from his truck into my car and we go about on foot to catch the other female. Do I mean they don’t just run back to you when you call them? That’s exactly what I mean. So the suit persued, on foot, around in circles, through neighbors yards, through stickers. Met several neighbors, who tried to help. Finally had to cut up an $80 briskett and slowly lewer her back to house, one bite at a time, hansel and gretel style. Finally got her inside and back to an enclosure as well as the female in my car. Of course it was very cold outside during all this. The female in the garage found a box of my sons toiletries, proceeded to open about 4 bottles of body wash, dump them out and thoroughly scent roll in that. Got her cleaned and back to enclosure. Now she cant go. The female who was we finally caught again cant go because she has had too much to eat to have surgery. I contact the vet whose been trying to reach me to see where i am. I explain. And Thank God he is always very gracious with me. He says i can still take in one or two females. Im not feeling very confident so heres the one i took. She actually did great on the car ride. Still had to be scooped up, carried by the vet tech through the back door. But all things considered, it worked out ok.😅. Also, apologies to my neighbors whose yards i tresspassed through. 🙏.
