@wildrosecollege: Day 2 of our Festive Herb Calendar celebrates the resilient and symbolic pine, a cherished evergreen that has long been tied to solstice traditions and the spirit of the season. In Scandinavian lore, the solstice was celebrated as Yule, where evergreens reminded people of spring’s rebirth and life’s endurance through the darkness. Norse mythology tells us the first man sprang from an ash tree—the revered World Tree, Yggdrasill, whose roots, trunk, and branches connect Heaven, Earth, and the Netherworld. Evergreens were used to decorate homes and barns, bringing light and hope into the coldest days of winter. While pine is today’s theme, our Social Media Coordinator, Holly brought its spirit to life by decorating the spruce tree in her front yard with dried orange slices and birdseed bells—sharing the joy with our feathered friends. 🍊🐦✨ How do you connect with nature during the festive season?
