Would like a lawyers take. Would a “pledge” be legally binding. Are pledges and contracts the same to courts?

I bet they didn't require the CEOs to sign a statement that they wouldn't do anything unethical or harmful to others in their decisions

They can tell you to not speak bad about the company but they cannot force you to sign that. That is coercion. They also cannot tell people what they believe. If they fire you - it’s retaliation.

I love how instead of actually changing their shitty policies they decided a threatening pledge would make it better. Thanks for more fuel to the fire. Idiots

I’d sign a pledge like this if the execs sign a legally binding agreement which allows a third-party, with no financial stake in the industry, to audit its leaderships business decisions to ensure no

Is it ridiculous? Yes. Is it illegal? No. The GOVERNMENT cannot infringe on free speech; private companies can (except in narrow exceptions). If an at-will employee, can be fired for not signing.

I feel like they are doing this so that if something happens to one of their executives and it’s because info was leaked like an address or identification, it’s outside the scope of employment and they aren’t responsible. It’s always about the money. Crazy.

I think that is coercive because if they don’t sign, they could get fired. I have had to sign agreements that I won’t disparage a company, but not a whole industry! Clearly unethical

do they get more money to pledge their loyalty? I mean if the CEO was asked I'm sure they would negotiate fair compensation for a pledge of loyalty. we aren't Serfs and this isn't England.🤔

And this is how these insurance companies get away with it. As a solo provider, I’m not allowed to discuss my rate with anyone else. UHC has given me a 4 cent raise per service once in 4 years.

What’s crazy is the employees don’t realize it’s not just black and white, if their employer abuses them, they’ll be contracted NOT to say anything that will threaten the company, could mean anything

I don't think that's enforceable at all. Or, at the very least, I would argue to them my job isn't security detail. It's whatever the position is in that company.
