She and her brother were heartlessly tossed from a breeder’s car, landing on the side of the road like they didn’t matter. Cruelly abandoned like they are trash, Katniss was left in unimaginable pain. Katniss broke her fall on her tiny leg, fracturing her elbow joint. By the time she was found, she was crying in agony, her little body trembling from the pain. The shelter marked her urgent, and when we heard her story, we knew we had to act fast.
