@sarah_falls_: Replying to @user4822549367786 i never thought about this perspective until my sister, who is a teacher mentioned it to me. They have a lot of children at school asking the question of why didnt they get a big expensive item from santa? Were they bad? And its a hard one to explain away, without giving up “Santa”. So maybe this year we can be a little mindful of that, and let the parents own the big ticket stuff, i mean we do pay the bills after all 😆😆 #thriftmas #christmasseason #christmasgiftideas
can confirm as a teacher , i have never heard kids even talk about it. by the end of the holidays they don’t remember

I’m an Australian primary school teacher and a mother of an early primary school student and the 6 weeks between Christmas and the first day of school means Santa presents are no longer discussed.

yes 💯 we do this and i have seen posts for eg where parents will be like I don't care if the other kids miss out 😳🤯 blows my mind!! I do however tell our kids that we tell Santa we would rather they share the gifts to others cause we can afford what they want. the years we can't I still come up with something similar. it breaks my heart for the families that miss out and watch other kids get it all 😭

Why is everyone so negative haha. She is not saying don’t buy your kids big ticket items just have them from the parents. Why should Santa take all the credit 😂 I remember discussing presents with my friends when I saw them at school or during holidays. Each family have different financial circumstance and if a kids asks for a motorbike but didn’t get one because of this but another kid got one from “Santa” they would feel upset that Santa chose to give someone else a motorbike and not them.

In 20years of parenting, this has never happened. Kids don’t compare. My 2 best friends and I all do Christmas different, and not once have the kids compared. Everyone should do what works for them!

I have school aged children and this legitimately never happens. Kids of the Santa believing age rarely have the concept of monetary value. Nor have I heard kids “comparing” who got better presents.

In Australia Santa comes in December and we go back to school start of Feb so most kids forget by the time school starts
