@nackhabitat: Replying to @some tech nerd good questions. To avoid unnecessary bulk, additional plastic, longer printing times, higher cost, and high possibility of breaking. After months of testing, it’s way more sturdy being screwed into the desk with actual screws going into the desk, instead of just relying on tension. #prototyping #3dprinting #3ddesign #desk #setup #gaming

If it’s custom just measure the width of your desk and give it a small tolerance and it will slide right on

I fell into this exact issue when I tried to print a small vice for clean up and it instantly snapped when clamping it to the desk

Add fillets or chamfers to the inner corners. Spread the load. Also consider how your printing this part on the bed. The way the layers are oriented will increase or reduce strength.

Why not do this in openscad and have it configurable?

you could incorporate metal 90° brackets into the design for added strength where needed

"more plastic, more waste", yet you print multiple versions that dont even work properly... that is more wasteful

Use a U or H section instead on making it solid. For extra strength a rib pattern in the section.

can you not create a small groove and add a rod of titanium and glue it together with tigerseal ?

screw and the shims are doing the exact same thing. The shims just won't tighten it as much as it's possible with a screw. But if you don't tighten the screw, it's the same

Just add a modifier and increase infill and layer walls just in that area!
