what gets me even more about this is if you pair it with Charles's comics upbringing where he watched his mother who he had developed his first psychic bond to absued, be used as a science experiment by his own dad and his step-father, hated by his step-brother because he was favored, and just felt so alone aside from Raven if you include her. He never was without food and always had a roof over his head and didn't really have want for anything material, and yet the thing he wanted being connection and love was for the most part just out of reach. Erik knew what it felt like to feel alone and lonely even among others and who was the first person who didn't seem to flinch away from Charles's powers.
