as a person who was very fat at one time, it's not 100% because there are diseases where you can't move that will make you big, but a large part of it is

Depends, there are a lot of diseases and predispositions that will make you fat or more prone to be fat, exactly like some people are prone to be lean due to fast metabolism

I don't know if I'd agree. when you work out and you get bigger your perception of you goes into bigarexia mode. everyone thinks that they can see themselves gaining weight but it's so gradual it's just not true. then one day you see it and it's a really big oh fuck moment. I was outta work for a couple of years, I gained fat. I lost 18lbs of fat in six months of which I had no idea I had in the beginning. putting objective numbers on it is the only real way to quantify to yourself. it's an eye opener.

Didn't see obese people in concentration camps, also that's like saying taking drugs is not a choice

there's evidence to indicate it's not a choice and this video is fatphobic. it's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact.

Thinking it is a choice it’s just anti intellectualism. Cold facts say it is a combination of socioeconomic and physiological factors.

I feel like the answer here is both yes ans no bc weight gain has a huge genetic factor, like we have all known that guy who can eat 5000cal a day and still look like a skeleton with skin

Even if it was a choice, being obese isn’t a moral failing. People make “unhealthy” choices all the time that aren’t put under a microscope like being fat, such as vaping or consuming alcohol.

It’s not a choice. Not only does genes play a part in one’s size and weight, socioeconomic status plays a HUGE role. Processed foods are a lot cheaper than healthy options

I think it is a choice to be obese. however, it can be harder for some people to make the change due to genetic issues. still shouldn't be an excuse though
