My name is Castiel Kelly, and I was born on September 17, 2024. On April 27 (Sunday night), my dad noticed a lump on the left side of my neck. On Monday morning, they took me to the pediatrician and she said it could be my inflamed lymphoma, but that she would refer me for an ultrasound. On Tuesday, they called to say that the ultrasound would be on Wednesday, April 30. The ultrasound was done and within an hour, the pediatrician called to say that they had found a tumor and that we should go to the emergency room in Boston. My scared and nervous parents took me to the Boston Children's Emergency Room, where they were waiting for me to arrive. The doctors at the ER did a repeat ultrasound since the images from the first one that morning had not yet been returned. However, the doctor had the summary of the first ultrasound and knew that he needed images to really see the extent of the tumor. After the repeat ultrasound, an X-ray and CT scan were ordered to check the rest of my body. The results came back and they found tumors everywhere, including my lungs, abdomen, behind my eye, neck and skull, as well as near my spine, along with the primary tumor near my kidney. The doctors told my parents it was cancer and that there was a high probability of it being neuroblastoma, which was confirmed after the biopsy was done on my neck. That same day, I was admitted to the hospital and the oncology team started more tests and prepared my mom and dad for the possibilities of what the cancer was and what its stage and risk would be. The doctors stated that I have stage 4 cancer and that it is likely high risk due to the amount of tumors I have. They immediately prepped me for a PICC line in my arm to start chemotherapy, which I have not yet completed my first round of, with several cycles and rounds to go. Doctors have officially confirmed that my neuroblastoma is high risk and the most aggressive, which means I will receive the strongest and most intense treatment to fight this cancer. My family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help my parents focus on my treatment and not the costs that insurance won't cover. Please support if you have a donation or share my story..#castielvsneuroblastoma #neuroblastomastage4 #cancer #cancersucks #castielstrong #savemybaby #mishacollins #castiel @Leidiane Kelly
