@drjoe_md: Erythema ab igne, also known as “toasted skin syndrome,” is a condition caused by prolonged exposure to low-grade heat or infrared radiation. It appears as a net-like, reddish-brown discoloration on the skin, often seen in people who sit close to space heaters or place laptops on their laps for extended periods. To prevent it, avoid direct heat exposure and use protective barriers. 🎥 via @Faith #rash #skincare #medicaleducation #Dermatology #HealthTips

I had no idea using a heating pad could cause something like this! Time to rethink my cozy routine.

Sometimes my arms & legs do this when I’m in the sunlight. I try to keep covered & limit my direct skin contact.

I need help with my face always turning very red, mainly in heat, but also when I’m uncomfortable. I’m not embarrassed, but it looks as though I am. How would I heal that?

I've used a heating pad all day everyday for over 10 years due to chronic back pain. Never got a rash but have had a few burn blisters. Have no choice. Nothing else helps.
