sometimes it’s ok to shed a few tears while you sit in the moment and comfort the patient, it shows humanity! never feel bad for being too empathetic🤍🤍

i had to step out in the middle of rounds to cry during IM when i had a pt in the same situation :( dr byrne had to comfort me i felt so bad, but she said delivering bad news with a straight face comes w/ time and while we're students one of the things we're learning is literally how to handle these emotions bc being surrounded by so much pain and suffering is literally not normal. it's okay to feel your feelings!
