@dwaroundtheworld: could this be a favourite souvenir from your time in japan? the majestic art of goshuin has been around for well over a thousand years, and it still as beautiful as ever. when you visit a new temple or shrine more than likely it will have a queue of people at its goshuin stand. once there, and after paying a small fee, the artist will stamp and write in your book a beautiful design only seen at that location. there are some things to bear in mind when collecting goshuin. - you can only get goshuin in proper goshuin books, which you’ll need to purchase in advance or buy at your first temple or shrine - usually you cannot film the goshuin being created, however at some of the small temples, like the ones featured in this clip, if you ask they are more than happy for you to do so - you’re not supposed to put anything else in these books apart from goshuin as a sign of respect - speaking of, please ensure that you pay your respects to the locations you collect from this was, without doubt, one of my favourite things to do in japan and one that i hope to carry on when i visit again. have you heard of goshuin before? #goshuin #japan #collecting
