Today, we spotted humpback whales and orcas, including our famous white orca, affectionately known as Frosty. Our private tour began with two passengers celebrating their anniversary, and we started by observing a friendly humpback whale. However, to our surprise, the humpback disappeared unexpectedly. This is quite unusual since we are typically very good at tracking whales, and we usually don’t lose them unless they choose to hide from something. To our surprise, this time it was the biggest predator of the ocean—orca pods. Just then, one of our passengers pointed out some dorsal fins. Upon closer inspection, our crew identified not only orcas but also the rare white orca, Frosty. I must say, Frosty was shining in the sun at Moss Landing today while hunting with its pod around a buoy that was full of sea lions.
