It’s nice until u have a crashing pt, can’t get ahold of doctors, no IV team, 600lb pt who requires a bed change/4 staff and u go out in the hall for help and the nurses station is a ghost town annnd

I was an ER RN for 20 yrs , floated to ICU sometimes. Worked mostly day shift. Yes, days are USUALLY busier, but, U have more backup. When 💩 happens, it's harder. Don't get cocky🥰

Nah you just haven’t had a bad night yet. There’s nights where I start out with two empty beds and the admissions are nightmares. Or the patients are confused don’t sleep jump out of bed

I prefer the night shift itself. But what night shift people sacrifice (and made me miserable) is how awful you feel while not working and the amount of time it takes to recover after the night.

Try a night with a ton of admissions , doing your own labs & vitals and blood sugars because your floor doesn't get a tech and all your patient on are on 2 different antibiotics scheduled back to back
