@ariannapapalexopoulos: This past summer, I sat down with my friend ilias’ grandmother, Vasiliki Georgopoulou, who lived through unimaginable horrors. She was just five years old during the Nazis’ largest single massacre in occupied Greece. December 13, 1943: German troops ordered all male residents of Kalavryta, aged fourteen and older, to gather at the mountaintop where nearly 700 young boys and men were executed by machine gun. 81 years later, we continue to honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust of Kalavryta.
