@crimesyndicatee: ANOM was a covert operation conducted by the FBI and its international partners to dismantle organized crime networks. It revolved around distributing encrypted phones to criminal organizations under the guise of secure communication. These devices, however, had a hidden backdoor, allowing law enforcement to monitor messages in real time. The operation began in 2018 after the FBI shut down Phantom Secure, another encrypted platform used by criminals. To fill the void, ANOM phones were marketed as the next best tool for secure communication. The devices only allowed specific apps, like messaging and a calculator function, but the messaging app secretly sent a copy of every message to law enforcement servers. Criminals believed they were communicating privately, but their illegal activities were being monitored. By 2021, ANOM had become widely used among criminal organizations in over 90 countries. This led to the arrest of more than 800 individuals involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and other crimes. Law enforcement also seized tons of drugs, weapons, and millions in cash. #truecrime #crime #truecrimestory #fyp #basedonatruestory
