I hate when people suggest you put a dog down. He will tell you when it's time. When my Dane got sick people told me to put her down. She got better and I had 3 more good years with her.

We had the same experience with our 14 year old Bichon. Wasting away. We also have to make him “soup” now, and he still has dementia, but his quality of life and weight are much better!

i grew up with an older jack russell and a younger chihuahua. at some point they got so old they did this as well. my parents started cooking them beef and rice every night. i was skeptical about it
