He did do it, actually. Every single movement, his word choices, not being able to say pineapple (it doesn't matter if the photo was black and white and any of us bystanders couldn't clearly tell it's pineapple, HE KNEW BECAUSE HE LIVED THERE AND WAS WELL AWARE EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS, when looking at the bowl and he temporarily paused replying is because he was there in the moment again mentally, instantly, reliving the event in his mind. That picture triggered him into reliving the event, the conversation with his sister that became an argument and couldn't control his anger at his sister, resorted to bashing her too hard with the murder weapon and the parents came in too late once they instinctively realized the argument got quiet so they went to check...likely the mother first, then called for her husband frantically. Burke was flooded with what he's been coached. His parents knew his mental struggles and had empathy to try to protect him instinctively from whom they believed would just further damage his mental rather than guide him the way they selfishly believed they could do better for him. That boy was simply jealous. He'll never admit it. His parents covered it up, also obvious via the ransom being exact. His smirks and humphs started young, because his parents coached him and convinced him he'd not get caught and answer for it and the longer it's gone, he absolutely believes it and is very pleased with himself, he believes he's smarter than everyone because he's not been found guilty. His ego is enormous in his grins. He is so proud of beating the accusations. Asperger's my a$s, he may be diagnosed with it, but he doesn't have it. The psychiatrist should be disbarred for lying. He most definitely can initiate conversation, maintain eye contact, and control physical movement when not under the microscope.
