Typically for a lot of people it’s because their heart rate can get to high from basic things like grocery shopping so they need it to keep their heart rate down

My mother can walk small distances but it cases pain. She needs to sit to keep the pain from becoming unmanageable.

Thanks for explaining all the way- anyone who might catch this despite the lateness, ITS TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE CAUSE BY LONG TRAVEL. They CAN walk short distances, the longer the distance the more damage it can cause and the more energy may consume. The wheelchair is for long travel, walking is for short bursts.
