Within a few hours of landing in El Calafate I was already in love with the place (surprise!!). I’m hosting a group trip for a week, but before that started I wanted to take a few days and explore the area. My hostel was a quick walk to town and I spent the days wandering, working in cute shops, and getting recommendations from hostel friends and locals. After the group trip ends, I’ll be spending the rest of the month on my own! idk how to describe it other than the vibes are very vibey here. I instantly noticed the tattoo culture and am excited to find some artists and book a few pieces at the end of this trip! ✨accommodation✨ I stayed in Americana del Sur Hostel, two nights was $50 and it was under 15 min walk to town! GREAT VIEWS, staff and people were 👌🏼 ✨food✨ After a quick google maps search for gf food, I noticed a handful of options popped up. It is also labeled “sin TACC”. I ate a few meals at my hostel and at these cute places 👇🏼 Calafate Coffee Roasters Waffles Como en Casa Total spent on food 2.5 days: $70 Ice bar cost: $16 ✨transportation✨ My transportation from the Airport to El Calafate town was taken care of, but if you’re looking for a cheaper option than a taxi, you can use the VES shuttle! There is a stand right next to baggage claim and they take you right to your destination in town. To get from El Calafate to El Chalten, you can take a bus. They do tend to book up so it’s best to secure your seat ahead of time. Multiple people recommended using www.recorrido.cl to book! ✨communication✨ My spanish is mediocre at best, but I haven’t had an issue thus far. I’m excited to work on it over the next month and get a lot better! You can get away with some english in certain places, and it’s always nice to have google translate downloaded for offline use as a backup. #solofemaletravel #patagoniatravel #solotravel
