@thenatureeducator: It's jiggly, jelly, flexible, and flabby! This fungus has many wonderful names, such as cat's tongue fungus, jelly tooth fungus, toothed jelly fungus, False hedgehog, and white jelly fungus. They all describe this fungus very well! This white to light brown fungus is shaped like a tongue or spoon and the underside of the cap is lined with small TEETH. If you've ever seen a cat's tongue up close before, you know that they have tiny spines (aka papillae) on them which resemble this fungus! They are wobbly and jiggly in damp conditions, but dry, hard and shrivel up in warmer and dry conditions. They are found in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America, Central America, and South America in forests growing on the ground, logs, and stumps. #fungus #mushrooms #nature #forest #biodiversity #fungi
