I can’t believe such a rich country will let their people go broke over just receiving healthcare. I live in the Netherlands and I am so happy I don’t have to worry about those bills. Free Luigi!

As a Canadian, I don't understand how it works. If you end up in hospital and you don't have insurance OR a way of paying, do they just...send you away?

April 15th of this year my son was born 12 weeks early. 95 days in the nicu. Nearly a million dollars. I could work until I die I will never be able to pay that off. I hope the whole system burns.

I may have to wait for healthcare as a Canadian, but an accident or surgery won’t bankrupt me. For that, I’ll pay the extra taxes to cover me, my family, friends and everyone else.

I spent $28,000 on premiums alone last year. I can’t even afford to put money in savings because $2400/month is getting eaten up by “insurance” that doesn’t even cover all my needs.

At this rate everyone paying monthly premiums should cancel and save the payment. You get a discount for paying out of pocket anyway. (I don’t think it’s a big discount, but I digress)

South Africa isn't considered a wealthy country but we have a public health system. It may not be perfect but even a homeless person can be taken to hospital free of charge

I pay 950 a month with a 7500 deductible and high copays. I would have to pay 20k out of pocket before the insurance company will pitch in. WTF, is this healthcare or extortion?

I know the NHS has its problems and is nowhere near perfect but I'm so very grateful for it. I'd be terrified of getting sick if I lived in the US

I got an abnormally high insulin need so I use for two. I get it all free. The pump and all the rest. The privilige to live in peace should be for all.

My monthly insurance premium is almost as much as my mortgage. And it doesn’t cover much.

Canada’s healthcare is in rough shape, but my daughter still received 4 days emergency room care plus emergency surgery and recovery in a pediatric ward. The only expense was uber eats.

I don't understand insurance in the US, what do you mean to pay for insurance then still have to pay and be possibly bankrupt?! What are the insurance payments for?

I work in healthcare and refuse to pay for health insurance. My doctor is cash only, doesn’t even accepted insurance. It’s cheaper to pay outright that monthly premiums and deductibles! (For me)
