@lifewithleannelee: 4 years ago, the algorithm bouncers randomly allowed my video to go viral. And although since then, she’s had a private tutor and has been on apps, she cannot speak like Mulan yet 😅😅 But shes getting better day by day ☺️ *FOLLOW ME ON IG & YT W/THE SAME NAME* #onthisday #learnchinese #asianmom #asiancanadian
I really wish my family also kept our language. well done mama

She was hurting so deeply! She seems to have felt such a deep connection to her heritage. She has remarkable emotional depth and awareness for someone so young.

As someone who is Māori and grew up without my reo this is how I felt as a kid and I felt it SO SO deeply 😭 I still do, but I feel a little more hopeful about it now that there’s 200k Te Reo-

Please tell me she got lessons or someone to teach her. I grew up without my native language (Welsh, raised in the midlands, eng) and even as an adult still get upset that I was denied that part of me

I have breakdowns like this regularly BC my parents didn't teach me their native tongue and I know so little about my ethnic history and culture and I feel like a fraud.

As a Hispanic who doesn’t known Spanish, it leaves a hole in your heart when you don’t know your language. Constantly having to explain yourself about why you don’t know hurts. Definitely teach her while she’s young.

I'm the only one out of my dads 4 kids that can speak French and my little sister resents him for not teaching her. At my grandpa's funeral they felt so left out cause everyone else there could speak

I'm so behind this idea. you should always have a connection to your ancestral roots. I want to learn Gaelic and teach it to my daughter.
