I once saw a production where the Chinese section was a traditional dragon dance, it was respectful and extremely cool. I wish more dance companies would do something like that

The company I do Nutcracker at is so amazing with this stuff. Arabian is Chocolate, Chinese is Lemondrop, and Russian is Gum drop.

coffee and tea are not for children anymore so it doesn't make much sense in a modern context anyway, most productions I've seen have fun with this and do other sweets

The company I danced nutcracker with had Arabian, Chinese, and Russian but they had traditional costumes and dances. It’s was so cool to be apart of, especially Arabian. Our leads were a peacocks.

In the nutcracker I did each one was a different story so like Chinese was Peter Pan, Arabian was Charolette’s web, ect.

the one i see every year does a dragon dance that’s always super cool, and there’s one guy who dances around the dragon in a traditional manner, but i think they modernized it a little over time
