Replying to @Bubba mc We are often asked by viewers about why we hold the brayers a certain way when we are rolling ink on type and on the ink stone. In this video, Howard explains the proper way to hold the different brayers that we have in our print shop exhibit. This was done while rolling out some black rubber base ink with a brayer on the ink stone in preparation for some letterpress printing in the print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. As Howard demonstrates, this is done to create an even layer of ink on the ink stone and brayer. The remaining ink at the top of the stone will gradually be rolled out as we’re printing.
