There were mornings I didn’t know how I’d make it through. The nights when I’d get home at 2am, shower, stay wide awake until 4am, and then be up again at 6:30am to solo parent because hubby was at the firehouse. I’d head to my parents’ to pick up the kids, get them ready, drop them off at school, and push through the day with client work on zero energy. [DEEP BREATH] Sounds exhausting, right? Those brutal days are what make me so grateful for the slower ones—the weeks and months where life quiets down. At first, I’d freak out over having “nothing to do,”but now I see it as God/The Universe’s way of saying, “Take a break, you’ve earned it.” If you’ve followed me for a while, you know November through February tends to be a slow season for me as a freelancer. The first two years, it caught me off guard. But now, I prepare for it—saving, strategizing, and using that time to focus on myself and set up for a strong start to the next year. This is your reminder: save and prepare for rainy days.
