Story point as to determine size of effort compared to another story, not a measure of time. Humans are good are comparing sizes, but terrible at estimating time to complete.

1 of the companies I worked at used shirt sizes, but they had a reference sheet to compare it to. It was mostly about the complexity, not about how much time you need as junior or senior developer

let’s use hours instead and then explain every time why we overestimate or underestimate when the actual hours don’t perfectly align with that, that’s so much better than story points with wiggle room

Story points is a measure of size / complexity, but kinda the same thing, but they use story points, because some ppl are not 100% in the task

you WISH for story points. its way worse when PMs are asking for exact dates especially when its around 3 month of work of five devs. imagine how precise the deadline estimation is

To me who works in IT but studied writing on top on my autism this entire ''storypoint'' re-phrasing would be a nightmare to understand. I'd be totally in their face about it as a disabled writer 😒

I'm living this right now 😡. plus our story points are used as kpis, penalty if our estimates are off by 5% and expected 15% velocity increase yoy (<5% inc = underperforming)

Story points are NOT a measure of effort. If you think that you’ve fundamentally misunderstood the purpose. Story points are a measure of complexity ie risk.
