@drlorashahine: Excellent way to show how words of ‘comfort’ can sting As a fertility doctor,I often hear stories of well-meaning but hurtful comments shared with those experiencing pregnancy loss.In this reel,I react to phrases like: -“At least you can try again.” -“Everything happens for a reason.” -“At least you know you can get pregnant.” While these words are meant to comfort, they can feel dismissive, minimizing the grief of losing a pregnancy. Miscarriage is not just a medical event—it’s an emotional loss,a shattered dream, and a time of deep mourning. Here’s how you can truly support a loved one: 1.Acknowledge their pain:“I’m so sorry for your loss. This must be so hard.” 2.Offer to listen:“I’m here if you want to talk or share how you’re feeling.” 3.Be present:Sometimes, simply being there in silence speaks louder than words. 4.Avoid platitudes:Instead of trying to fix their pain, focus on validating their emotions. Your compassion and understanding can make all the difference. #PregnancyLossSupport #FertilityAwareness #MiscarriageSupport #GriefAndHealing #ReproductiveHealth #FertilityDoctor

I lost a baby at 20weeks when I was 27. A lady was nice enough to tell me “well you are young and you have plenty of time to have another.” But I want HIM

My doctor actually said to me “it’s actually very common. It’s not something you should necessarily be sad about.”

worst thing I was told when I was having a miscarriage was 'its a good thing so now you can focus on your life' or that I should be happy because I still have my son. no part of me was happy or (1)

"You didn't tell me your dog died, how could you do that to me, you owe me an apology." It was my mother. 🙃

My supervisor asked if I was going to wait next time before telling people so soon that I was pregnant. Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I should wait for people to see me crying & then explain it 50 times

I had an ectopic pregnancy (baby implanted in my fallopian tube) and my tube ruptured at 8 weeks along so I had emergency surgery they removed both of my tubes. The number of times I heard “well it wouldn’t have gone full term anyway” while I was grieving this colossal loss was almost unbearable.

"at least you weren't that far along" and "don't tell anyone about the next one until it's halfway out" we're two most memorable things I was told 🫤

that's crazy, I never experienced this type of loss but I assumed it hurts deeply as losing a baby. It scares me to know miscarriages are THAT common, that's a lot of pain for a lot of people

I had a ob tell me to not try because it will just end in miscarriage because my eggs were too old. Who says that to a grieving mother?! On numerous 7 and it never gets easier.
