@lindsayboyk: I never like giving upsetting updates. But many have followed and loved Chubbs journey. Chubbs is currently at PennVet animal hospital. (The best place for him on the northern East coast) He was admitted Monday with progressed heartworms. Rescuing him I knew we would face Hw battles and we were prepared. Unfortunately not for this. This has been a chronic issue in him and now needs emergent intervention. Thankfully he does not need surgery at this time and is receiving oxygen and supportive medication to ensure he is comfortable. Tomorrow he will start his heart worm treatment injection and be monitored there until they deem safe to come home to continue recovery and more treatment. Once home he will be on strict crate rest. Sadly, this treatment is equally as risky as having the worms untreated. But the team at Pennvet and myself know this boy is a fighter and strong. Please please please send all mellow, healing and comforting vibes to my boy as we continue this process. I am once again overwhelmed with the love and support we have been receiving these past few days and cannot thank you all enough for being the best support system a gal could ask for!
