I have 27 employees, mostly year 12’s & uni students..the pressure I see these kids go under is terrible.. no one pushes apprenticeships these days, it’s all uni. They make them believe they can’t have a successful life unless they get a high ATAR. Horrible system.

I got 65 to the equivalent of what Atar is now. Got into my desired course via an alternate route and am now earning 6 figures. It isn't the be all and end all.

I got 98.80 and felt the same way. 12 years has passed now and I don’t think about it. If it was a course that needed it, look for bonus points or do an internal transfer. Didn’t lose any time.

For these kids who worked SO hard this does matter and good for them. We are so quick to complain that young people don’t contribute enough, but when they’re doing the most we also have a go at them. Well done to all these kids, what a brilliant achievement!
