@radiowithdrawal: “Kiss on My List” was released in 1980 on the Voices album by Daryl Hall & John Oates. Written by Hall and Janna Allen, the song was initially intended to be released by Allen, the sister of Hall’s longtime girlfriend, Sara Allen, as a solo track meant to jumpstart her music career. Hall ended up cutting a demo version of the song as a guide for Allen, but when his manager found the tape one day in studio and listened to it, he insisted Hall & Oates cut the song themselves instead, believing they had a hit on their hands. The lyrics act as a tongue-in-cheek, anti-love song, exploring the impact and significance of a kiss and the importance it holds in a relationship. The song would go on to top the Billboard chart, their second hit single after “Rich Girl” in 1977. *Special thanks to @mobilefidelityofficial for this great Original Master Recording of Voices Excerpt: I only smile when I lie, then I tell them why your kiss is on my list (Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in life (Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list (Because your kiss) your kiss I can’t resist (Because your kiss) is what I miss when I turn out the lights #hallandoates #kiss #vinyl #1980 #80s #80smusic #musiccollection #music
