@colleen_rolland_rdh: Would you perform a basic prophy or full mouth debridement on a patient with periodontitis just because you work for a free clinic and the patient is noncompliant with the care that they need? I did not get into this career to provide substandard care. First of all, it’s entirely unethical. Second, patients do not get to dictate what treatment we provide to them. They absolutely have the right to refuse, but that does not mean that I am going to lower my standards as a clinician to appease them. Refusing ext, I go over symptoms of sepsis & how QUICKLY it exacerbates like going to bed feeling a little off to possibly not waking up. I call it a plane crash situation.
