@davidbetras0: @BetrasKoppLaw I think my post says it all but they find a gun no silencer. They find a manifesto doesn’t name the sky. Specifically the photos aren’t that great. The fingerprints are smudged and shell casings matched. That’s no big deal. Let’s see what happens. #LuigiMangione #juries #CEOMurderCase #BurdenOfProof
The bag confuses me… they found him with the bag and evidence, but also found the bag earlier with Monopoly money in it?

I’m obsessed with your updates, and they remind me how much I regret not finishing law school. This stuff is fascinating.

I still don't feel the pictures match Luigi. The famous smiling picture looks more like a guy with a longer more narrow face. I would like to see a reenactment and compare the two.

I saw a guy on live reviewing court papers last night and it said no DNA was collected, but they said in a briefing that they had matching DNA. is this true? if so how did they get DNA?

Awesome! Also they came out pretty quickly saying they have this evidence that matches- I’m a doctor so not a lawyer- but even for a high profile case this seemed unusually quick for testing - is it?

Also, everything is based off of their "second" picture of Luigi when he removed his mask to flirt with the person behind the desk. Not the first picture. They've just told us that that picture was of

The only way they can say the shell casings match is if the firing pin was the same. If they don’t have that they just have the same caliber and not the weapon. Firing pins are like fingerprints.

What’s your take on finding the charges no longer being found online? Were they dropped or removed to adjust them? How long can they keep him with no charges?

you can prove if casing/bullets came from the same gun based on markings the barrel, firing pin, and other parts the gun leaves. but as far as I know they haven't been able to prove that yet

Geez, don’t know why it just now hit me how 3D printing might challenge ballistics testing. Does the barrel (and rifling characteristics) change slightly with each use? Can it stand up to usage?

Matching a gun to shell casings is a lot different than matching a gun to a specific round fired from that weapon or the unique markings left by the firing pin on the primer of the cartridge, along with the breech face impressions. We need to know how they matched it. 9mm is the most popular handgun cartridge in the world. You can match those casings to every single one of the multi millions of 9mm handguns. That just means the shells fit in his gun. They fit in mine too.

Primer strike from the firing pin leaves a unique imprint on the on the primer. Also, the chamber of the fire are can leave unique striations on the shell casing. If they have the bullet match rifling

Based on an early photo the gun was identified as an “antique” of an older weapon. Do 3D weapons have the same lans and grooves as a metal weapon?

Yeah the shell casings can be test fired, so the tool markings on the shell casings can match. My understanding is it’s not as accurate as previously thought and subject to lots of opinion

I may have misunderstood, but I thought they matched the bullets to the barrel rifling of the handgun. I don’t know, but that is the only thing that could match that would be meaningful
