My dermatologist told me to moisturize first with lotion THEN apply oil because oil is occlusive and will just sit on top of the skin and will not allow the moisturizer to do what it needs to do.

I like oil first on pretty damp skin. Then lotion. If I put oil last, it just feels greasy. And then sometimes if I rest my elbow on a table or something, it leaves oil behind. Ion like that.

I use oil on damp skin to soften. I seal my skin with lotion and add Vaseline to my routine in the winter. I use emollients and/or petroleum based lotions.

I use oil while damp then lotion, or mix the two n apply them together. Don’t really like how oil feels sitting on top of my skin, it almost feels like it’s half absorbed no matter how much I use

I did not realize people were doing this! that is...interesting. I am definitely in the lotion first camp. I finish with oil and top it off with perfume so I am moisturized and smell good all day

I buy unscented Eucerin for the dryest skin type. I get a designer fragrance oil scent from my local oil man and add it to my lotion bottle. They have everything from Tom ford, creed, killians& so on
